Kanako Kamishima

Tableware

Pasta Bowl

Description

Fine cracks, known as “kan-nyu,” naturally form in ceramic glazes due to the differing expansion rates between the glaze and the base material. These delicate cracks add a distinctive charm to each piece, reflecting the artistry and craftsmanship of Kanako.

To enhance your experience with Kanako’s dishes:

Before serving, soak the dish in lukewarm water for warm dishes or cold water for cold dishes. This helps prevent soy sauce and oils from seeping through, preserving the dish’s integrity.
Over time, the texture of the pot becomes increasingly moist with each use, offering a uniquely tactile and sensory experience.

Kanako’s designs strike a balance between modern aesthetics and timeless functionality. She prioritizes beauty and ease of use, crafting vessels that harmonize effortlessly with contemporary Japanese lifestyles. Experience how Kanako’s creations elevate your dining with their timeless appeal and practical elegance.

  • Precautions

    [Beginning of use]
We recommend that you strain the dish before using it for the first time. Boiling it in rice water prevents the small gaps between the clay and the glaze from becoming clogged, reducing the likelihood of water and oil seeping in during cooking, thus preventing stains and odors.
If the glaze is difficult to seal, soak the dish in water for half a day to a day before first use, then wipe it dry.

  • Handling

Avoid using the dish in microwaves, dishwashers, over open flames, or in ovens. When storing the dish for an extended period, ensure it is completely dry to prevent mold growth.

  • Care

Wash the vase with a soft sponge and mild detergent. Do not store it with any moisture remaining, as this may cause mold and odor. When storing it in a cupboard for a long period of time, make sure it is thoroughly dried beforehand.

    [When stains or odors appear]
Tea stains and other stains may develop on the surface of the pot over time. If odors become an issue, soak the pot in baking soda water for half a day to a full day and let it dry completely to remove the smell.
